Before and After Soda Blasting
Media blasting is a cleaning methods used to deep clean materials such as wood that is more effective than traditional methods of cleaning. In this case, we used sodium bicarbonate as an abrasive media to clean heavy soot from wood. The sodium bicarbonate is propelled from a blasting machine using compressed air, and abrasively blasts away the soot. The before and after photos here show the vast difference that soda blasting can make in a situation where it seems like nothing else might work. This particular job was done after a house fire that occurred in Duck, West Virginia. The wood shown looks almost as good as new.
